Umdloti Beach is a Coastal Conservancy and Wildlife Habitat with great beaches for bathing or tanning; good restaurants and bars, awesome surf spots, snorkelling, fishing and  dolphin and whale watching.

Situated at the mouth of the Mdloti River, and surrounded by fields of sugar cane and indigenous forest, this peaceful  village is only 30 km from Durban on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast enjoys a year round sub tropical climate. It is only 10 minutes to the new King Shaka Airport at La Mercy.

There is a huge tidal pool on the north side of Umdloti Beach. Come early if you want a good spot on weekends and holidays because this is a very popular beach, especially for families. It is ideal for those who are not too comfortable in the open ocean. This beach is protected by lifeguards year round.

Newsel Beach

On the South Side of Umdloti you’ll find Newsell beach. Surfers enjoy the right hand reef breaks with great banks in the summer. This beach is not usually as crowded as the main beach, but is perfect for sunbathing, surfing, paddling and snorkelling.
